Lockdown 2021: Can tradespeople still work in my home?

Jan 11, 2021, 10:00 AM by User Not Found

On the 5 January, national lockdown restrictions came into force across England.

The government has advised you can only leave home for work purposes where it is unreasonable for you to do your job from home. This includes the construction industry, which means tradespeople are able to continue to work in and around people’s homes providing they follow the COVID-19 secure guidelines.

Builders’ merchants and suppliers of building products can remain open to support tradespeople in doing their work.

You can read the full government guide to the lockdown restrictions here.

Work Can Continue

If you are planning to have work carried out in or around your home, or have work already in progress, this can continue to go ahead.

Tradespeople have been advised to communicate with you before arriving, and on arrival, to ensure you understand the social distancing and hygiene measures that should be followed once work has started.

Working Together to Ensure Work is Carried Out Safely

To promote safe working, the government and industry have written guidelines for tradespeople so they know what to do to keep safe. But staying safe is a joint responsibility, and we all have a duty to protect each other.

TrustMark, has created Work Safe Safe Work: a three-part guide to help you know what to do before, while and after you have tradespeople working in and around your home.
