Start A fresh ltd specialise in Thin Internal Corksol-Cork installations. A very common question I get asked about this procedure is….. What is CorkSol and how can it insulate at only 4-6mm? A very good question so here is how I reply CorkSol is an effective insulation material even at just 6mm due to its unique properties, primarily stemming from cork’s natural structure. Here’s why it works so well: Thermal Insulation & Low Thermal Conductivity. Cork has a low thermal conductivity (0.054 W/mK), meaning it resists heat transfer efficiently. Even at 6mm, it helps reduce heat loss and improves energy efficiency. Micro-Air Cells for Insulation. Cork contains millions of tiny air pockets, which act as thermal barriers. This structure prevents heat from easily passing through, providing insulation without requiring thick layers. Thermal Mass & Reflectivity. CorkSol reflects heat rather than absorbing it, helping to maintain stable indoor temperatures. Moisture Resistance & Breathability. It’s naturally vapour-permeable, preventing condensation and mold issues while still allowing walls to breathe. Unlike other materials, it does not degrade due to moisture exposure. Even though it’s only 4-6mm thick, CorkSol’s air-filled cellular structure and low thermal conductivity allow it to perform efficiently as an insulative coating, making it a great choice for improving wall insulation without major renovations. Especially where traditional systems CAN NOT be installed especially internally. Always available for a chat, case study’s, tecahnical data sheets, ISO9869 tests or any general questions.
