What is 'Trading Standards Approved'?

When TrustMark offers a 'Trading Standards Approved' accreditation it means that they are working closely with one or more Trading Standards Teams to ensure that their vetting criteria and operation of the scheme meet minimum standards. Buckinghamshire & Surrey Trading Standards have found that TrustMark actually exceed these standards.

In addition, Trading Standards will have an ongoing involvement in the operation of the scheme and input into the vetting process and ensure that it remains robust with the members operating in a legal, honest and fair way.

Customers value reassurances provided by Trading Standards Approved and you can proudly display an accreditation which has the added independence of a local regulator.

What is a Primary Authority Partnership?

Primary Authority offers businesses the opportunity to form legally recognised partnership with one local authority, which then provides robust and reliable advice for the other councils to take into account when carrying out inspections or dealing with non-compliance.

The scheme is a common sense Government initiative to cut red tape and support economic growth through better local regulation.  It is one of the most effective ways for local regulators to improve protection and support their business communities.

Trading Standards - Intelligence Requests

To process your application an 'intelligence' (Intel) request will be carried out by Trading Standards.

Intelligence requests ensure that you and your customers have confidence in the ability to meet the highest level of service and trust.

Trading Standards will check information that is restricted to officers and partners as well as that which is publicly available.

You can be assured that a proportionate approach is taken to findings; negative feedback would not automatically mean that you will be excluded from the scheme.  The outcome would depend on the nature of the findings and you may be asked for further information or provided with advice to enable you to become compliant.

If you are not located in Buckinghamshire or Surrey your local Trading Standards Team many be consulted.
