Simon Ayers | CEO

As Chief Executive Officer, Simon leads TrustMark with objective and strategic insight developed from an accomplished career in the energy and construction industry spanning over 30 years. Following the implementation of findings from the Each Home Counts (EHC) Review, TrustMark has expanded this remit to include Repair, Maintenance & Improvement (RMI); Retrofit and Energy Efficiency Measures to enhance the protection and choice available to consumers wanting to improve the energy performance of their homes.

Simon is currently navigating TrustMark through these changes as an organisation, helping to develop a level playing field of Government Endorsed Quality for any home improvement, as well as driving continual advances in cross-sector standards.

Simon has earned a reputation for his vision, passion, and dedication as a leader in the industry and is the driving force behind what’s at the heart of the TrustMark’s success: consumer trust and confidence.

Outside of work, Simon enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors on his motorbike. His claim to fame is Ayers Rock in Australia was named after his great, great uncle who was Governor of South Western Australia.
Deb Trustmark-5

Deb Hearn | Head of Operations

Deb joined TrustMark in 2018 as Governance Manager and has since been appointed Head of Operations. Alongside core board and governance responsibilities, Deb oversees service delivery, financial protection, and marketing functions providing key support to both the TrustMark Board and team members to ensure the success of internal operations.

Prior to TrustMark, Deb held a senior position at a large FTSE 250 company where she focused on employee engagement, increasing and enhancing operational efficiency and providing corporate governance.

Deb attributes much of her success over the years to her ability to create a working environment where shared value relationships, collaboration and autonomy are paramount. Her leadership philosophy is to elevate those around her by helping them recognise their potential and focusing on challenges as new opportunities to develop unique solutions.

Deb brings a combination of genuine professionalism and enthusiasm to her role and cultivates a working environment in which people feel happy and at ease.

Outside of work, Deb is an avid reader and loves spending time with her family and friends.
Nicola Trustmark-2

Nicola Waller | Scheme Development Manager

Nicola joined TrustMark in 2015 and has helped lead the organisation through significant transformation. As Scheme Development Manager, Nicola is responsible for supporting all areas of the business and collaborating with stakeholders to develop initiatives that benefit our Registered Businesses and consumers.

Prior to joining TrustMark, Nicola spent 16 years within the finance sector involving pension funds and unit trusts and was recognised for her contribution in developing an in-house automated reconciliation platform that provided risk mitigation for a multi-million-pound asset register.

Known for her passion and commitment, Nicola possesses a strong ability to act decisively in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivery and outputs. Throughout her tenure, she has been a champion of TrustMark and leads by example by achieving operational excellence and elevating our stakeholder and customer experience.

Outside of work, Nicola’s passions include her family, friends and menagerie of pets. She is an avid supporter of charity events (the more adrenaline, the better) and enjoys team sports, live music, and staying true to her moral compass.

Phil Mason | Head of Regulatory Engagement

Phil assumed the role of Head of Compliance in early 2018 and has since been appointed Head of Regulatory Engagement. Having previously spent 10 years working in the UK’s largest business process outsourcing and professional services company. Phil was attracted to TrustMark by the ‘once in a generation’ opportunity Each Home Counts has created to build greater consumer confidence and uptake of Energy Efficiency Measures, Retrofit, Repair, Maintenance and Installation in and around the home.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Phil has a proven track record of creating, managing, and delivering compliance strategies and has demonstrated a deep expertise within the energy and safety arenas. In addition, he has been recognised for working with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), creating and delivering a national strategy to change behaviours of ‘repeat offenders’ that supported their on-going eligibility to remain part of a UK legally mandated scheme.

Phil is a proven leader at building and fostering relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders and prides himself on his strong commitment to excellence.

Chief among Phil’s goals is to strengthen TrustMark’s role to build consumer confidence and uptake energy efficiency measure in the retrofit market.

Outside of work, you may find Phil playing the guitar or at a Cotswold country pub with his family and friends.

Phil Vaughan | Programme Director

Phil Vaughan is TrustMark’s Programme Director, a role focused on technological solutions that has enabled TrustMark to expand its remit to deliver the quality mark required by Each Home Counts, as well as the provision of a range of additional benefits for the scheme.

Before joining TrustMark, Phil’s career spanned almost 30 years and included a variety of leadership positions in software, and energy related sectors.

Phil’s position as Programme Director builds on his expertise in previous initiatives that required the same kind of vision, business knowledge and operational execution. He has a particular interest in the use of technology to create more efficient, cost-effective, and accessible solutions that will provide appropriate benefits to national organisations, small businesses and the consumers that rely on these services.

Since joining TrustMark in 2018, Phil has played a key leadership role in establishing TrustMark’s foundation for expansion and growth and is known for his commitment, practical approach, and operational excellence.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys simple pleasures such as spending time with family and small dog. Main Interests include comedy, science, and tech.

Paul Rogers | Head of Compliance & External Relations

Paul Rogers serves as Head of Compliance and External Relations at TrustMark. He is responsible for the advancement and effective delivery of TrustMark’s compliance department and oversees the organisation’s interactions with our government department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), and other key industry stakeholders.

Paul began his career in 1991 as a registered Plumbing and Heating Engineer and successfully ran his own businesses for over 20 years, including listed buildings, conservation projects and the recycling industry.

Paul has over 30 years’ experience working in the industry with a focus on critiquing engineering development from an industrial design and engineering perspective. His initiatives include, among others, a focus on water treatment, specifically ion-exchange, reverse osmosis, and contaminated water supplies; inventor and director of a patent hydrodynamic separator and processing plants; and co-authoring publications on the dynamics of non-spherical particles in turbulence.

Paul is grounded in his passion for environmental and innovative products. This inspiration has guided Paul through a career of building strong teams, creating strategic initiatives and inspiring partners, consultants, local authorities and industry.

Lynn Hugo | Non-Executive Director

Lynn has a broad background encompassing FTSE 100 and Global plc organisations, but also not for profit, public sector and enterprise start-ups. This range gives her considerable insight into the diversity that comprises TrustMark’s stakeholders.

Lynn is passionate about supporting the consumer, recognising that at some stage of the journey, this is a role played by all of us. Her values, combined with experience in human resources, transformational change, organisational development and design, culture change and improved ways of working will make a significant contribution to TrustMark.

David Oakley | Non-Executive Director

With an enviable track-record in senior roles at global corporations such as Twinings and Coco-Cola, David is a business all-rounder and passionate, entrepreneurial leader. David brings his wealth of experience to TrustMark because of a deep synergy in values and a commitment to raising the bar to create a ‘win-win’ situation for both consumers and trades.

David’s strategic leadership expertise will be invaluable, as will his ability to manage stakeholder engagement and he looks forward to becoming an effective and passionate ambassador for TrustMark.

Richard Saggers | Non-Executive Director

Striding both very senior roles at international telecommunication businesses and the establishment of a trade association, Richard combines the understanding of how to create customer proximity to drive new revenue opportunities, with in-depth understanding and empathy of trade bodies.

TrustMark is excited to work with someone with Richard’s excellent track record of innovation, operational leadership and value creation both in the UK and internationally, and we eagerly anticipate how he will help shape the organisation going forward.
