The Business of New Business

03 Apr 2010

If you want to secure more business for your company, why not consider becoming TrustMark registered?  TrustMark is the Government backed, not for profit quality mark for tradesmen which offers homeowners a free, quick and easy way to find honest, good quality tradesmen in the local area.

With so many rogue traders and cowboy builders out there, TrustMark separates the best from the rest and helps homeowners find reputable and reliable local tradesmen due to the stringent entry criteria.  TrustMark is the only organisation to require on-site inspections to check workmanship and all firms in TrustMark are monitored for quality of work, trading practices, customer satisfaction and are required to operate a user-friendly complaints procedure.

Scheme Operator's which manages the recruitment, inspection and monitoring of individual tradesmen who want to join TrustMark.

So how does it work?

The TrustMark website (www.trustmark.org.uk) has an easy to use postcode search facility which homeowners can use to obtain a list of the nearest tradesmen for the work required in their local area. It's the largest database of accredited tradesmen in the UK and every month, on average over 300,000 tradesmen's contact details are viewed through it, regularly resulting in business to TrustMark tradesmen.

Aside from driving new business, TrustMark registered firms can also take advantage of a number of other benefits:

  • Online promotion: through the TrustMark website and many other linked websites including trading standards, all for much less than a typical Yellow Pages advert
  • Firms only have to belong to one scheme
  • Consumers know that:
  • Checks have been carried out on the firm's technical competence, trading record and creditworthiness
  • The firm has signed up to a code of practice that includes mandatory insurance, good health and safety practices and the fair treatment of customers
  • Its quality of work, trading practices and customer satisfaction are checked and monitored
  • If a customer has a problem with the firm, the Scheme Operator will investigate and try to resolve the issue
  • The firm will give the customer the option to buy a warranty for added financial protection
  • The firm can use the TrustMark logo on vehicles, stationery and marketing material, differentiating it from other tradesmen.
